Potato, Pecorino & Rosemary bread

Therapy. Google defines Therapy as “The treatment intended to relieve or heal a disorder”. Now, I know most of us need traditional therapy, myself included but what I’m talking about today, is the type of therapy found in the kitchen. Yes, many people claim (again, myself included) that cooking is therapeutic, soothing, calming, etc and sometimes I can see people rolling their eyes when they hear that. But these people have no clue. People who haven’t spent time in the kitchen because they want to, as opposed to need to, will never understand how cooking can alter your mood. Chopping vegetables, stirring risotto.. there’s a certain calmness that comes over…

Potato Rösti

I don’t know how it happened, but I married the one man in South Africa who is not THAT into food. He likes good food and appreciates my cooking, but I could just as easily prepare the same thing every night and he won’t complain. But there are a few things he will give his two front teeth for. So when one of my readers asked me for an easy cottage pie recipe, I was a bit disappointed because I knew I would have to make it to see if it was really easy and really delicious. I started thinking of ways to amp up the flavour but keep the cooking time to a minimum and…

potato & leek soup

It’s quite unusual for me to post two similar recipe, two days in a row. But I couldn’t resist posting this delish recipe for Potato & leek soup today. I think most people have potato & leek soup as part of their top 5 soups because the flavours are so simple but it always ends up being so good. Most people also have their own twists on the recipe to make it their own. Mine is to add some Dijon & wholegrain mustard to the pureed soup. It just adds a little zing and depth without over powering the subtle flavours of the leeks and potatoes. I also like to…
