As I write this post, I can hear the waves crashing outside and the house is quiet as all the members of my family are still deeply in slumber. Everyone is utterly exhausted from the day spent on the beach yesterday. This is what Summer is all about for me. And when Summer is around, I want to eat fresh and tasty foods that don’t take hours to prepare. The more time spent on the beach or outside with my kids, the better. These crumbed lamb chops are a great example of that type of food, absolutely delicious and even though they take more time to do than say, a…

When I think of the warm aromas that spices bring to my kitchen, I feel happy. Very, very happy. There is just nothing like it. I actually cannot imagine my life without the smell of spices wafting through my kitchen. Whether it is cinnamon with it’s intense comforting properties or smoked paprika with it’s sweet and smoky flavour, spices really make my world go round. You will often find my recipes include a teaspoon of cumin or a tablespoon of coriander and although it would be fine for you to leave the spices out of those recipes, it just won’t be the same. I am often asked what I add…

Caprese Lamb Stacks

Yesterday, whilst thinking about dinner, I knew I wanted to do something with Lamb. But I was so not in the mood for the regular stuff I do with it. I was after some serious inspiration but none of the 100′s of websites I visited gave it to me. I needed something fresh, and something I could make my own. After about an hour of Googling and searching, I gave up and started going through my cookbooks. I went through about 9 before I gave up on that idea. There was just nothing that was grabbing my attention. Out of pure desperation, I reached for the cookbook we all had…

Sticky & Sweet Spare Ribs

So yesterday, in Braai Week Part 1, I started discussing the magnificence that is Marinading. And today I will continue with that. Now just to be clear, I have nothing against rubs etc. but I’ve just never really gotten the feel for them. I know people who could grill you the best meat on earth with just a rub, but I’m not one of those. So today I’ll  be talking about Lamb and Ribs. My two other favourites on the braai. I’ll be discussing steak on Thursday, so don’t panic, it’s coming! I could eat ribs all day, everyday. As long as they are sweet, sticky and a tad bit…

Lamb Chops with Salsa Verde

Even though I’ve blogged about this recipe before, I couldn’t do a herb week and NOT include my recipe for Salsa Verde. Salsa Verde is probably the best way to use up all the herbs you have lying in your fridge. It will last for up to 2 weeks in the fridge once made and it really goes so well with most meats and fish. It’s really lovely over grilled Kingklip and it works incredibly well with the sweetness of the grilled Lamb. I simply rubbed the lamb chops with olive oil, lemon juice and salt and grilled them for about 3 minutes a side until they were still perfectly…

Lamb Chops with Salsa Verde

I  am a very big fan of Salsa Verde. I love the versatility of it and I love that it literally takes 5 minutes to do. I usually serve it with fish but last night I decided to try it with grilled Lamb Chops and it was AMAZING! The natural sweetness of the Lamb works so well with the flavours of the Salsa Verde. Definitely a winner!! I just marinated the Lamb Chops in some Lemon Juice, Lemon rind, oil and salt and then grilled them on my griddle pan until they were still pink inside (about 3 minutes a side..they were quite small lamb chops). And served them with…
