White Chocolate Cigar truffles

I am not usually the sappy type. And neither is my husband. We don’t do PDA’s (well no more than a sincere hug, thigh-squeeze or kiss). And I don’t like to get too schmaltzy on my blog or my social networks. I mean, we don’t even celebrate Valentine’s Day. But recently, I have fallen so deeply in love with the man that I met 10 years ago and wanted to dedicate this post to him.      You see, these past two months my C and I have worked together closer than we ever have before. Yes, sure, we’ve shared office space for the last 3 years and we’ve worked…

Chocolate Brownies with Cherries soaked in Balsamic Vinegar

As I mentioned in Yesterday’s Post (Win with Woolworths & Simply Delicious), I promised to share a recipe or more an idea of what to do with pre-mixed baking goodies. The Woolworths range is really superior and their brownie mix is perhaps my favourite at this moment. I wanted to show my readers how you can take a pre-mix and add extra deliciousness to turn it into a seriously stunning dessert. It of course helps to start with a good pre-mix so choose one where you can taste the quality of the ingredients. Woolworths’ brownies are made with only the best ingredients and I love that they are deliciously dark…

If you vowed to start your diet on this Monday, avert your eyes immediately. Because these ice cream Sundaes are so insanely good, you will almost definitely fall off the rails. I have to confess though, that I’m not the biggest fan of ice cream usually. I just feel like if I am going to be eating something sweet and calorie filled, there are so many other options I would rather go for. But with these sundaes I can eat buckets of ice cream. Most probably because the ice cream is topped with the gooeyest of gooey sauces. Sweet with a little bit of saltiness, sticky and chocolatey, this Salty…

Chocolate-Amarula Crepe Cake

This is one of those show-stopper cakes that will impress your guests to no end. It does take a little work but it’s all very worth it. I first saw a crepe cake on Martha Stewart’s site and have wanted to try it ever since but knew I needed a special occasion for it and Easter is just the occasion I’ve been waiting for. You can play around with the flavours and omit the Amarula if you wish but it definitely adds a lovely creamy taste and flavour. I would love to try it again with lemon curd as a filling and a lemony glaze drizzled all over the…

Easter Cupcakes (Chocolate & Coconut)

When it comes to baking, cupcakes must be one to the easiest things to throw together and with these easy recipes, you have no excuse not to spoil your family this Easter. The chocolate cupcakes are super moist and to decorate them I simply piped the icing in a ‘nest’ around the top of the cupcake and then filled the hollow with colourful speckled eggs I bought. They look adorable and kids and adults alike will fall in love with them. The coconut cupcakes are delicate and light with a lovely coconut flavour. I like topping it with shredded coconut (which you can toast in the oven for a…

I know you might say I’m evil for posting this first thing on a Monday morning. But sometimes, all you need is some chocolate to get you through the day. That’s why I thought I would share my favourite chocolate recipes with you. Funnily enough, I’m not one of those people who need to have chocolate all the time, but I do get intense cravings every now and then and when those cravings hit, I am so desperate for  chocolate that I would contemplate selling my kidneys some. It’s no wonder then that there are a plethora of fabulous chocolate quotes out there and these are some of my…

Since I started blogging almost 2 years ago, I haven’t gone a week without posting at least one thing. So this will be a first for me. I’m taking a  little break from blogging for a couple of weeks while I work on some projects I have going on. I will most definitely be back so don’t think for a second that I am saying goodbye, I just need to focus all of my attention elsewhere at the moment. This way, when I come back, I’ll be full of new life and will hopefully have plenty of new things to share with you. What I will be doing is…

Soft Serve Cupcakes

During Winter, there are often days where I long for the beach (as I’m sure is the case with a lot of people). I long for that slight salt taste on my lips, the smell of sunscreen and the joy I feel watching my kids play in the water. I also long for the taste of sweet, extremely creamy Soft Serve ice cream. Preferably with chocolate dip and a flake. So when thinking of new ideas for cupcakes, I thought a Soft Serve Cupcake would be an awesome idea. Combining two of my great loves? Genius! During the process of experimenting, I made the stupid mistake of adding cream to…

Black Forrest Cupcakes

Over on Food24, the editor has set a challenge for one and all to create the most delicious, beautiful cupcakes. I was delighted when I heard this as I’m quite the Cupcake Queen amongst my friends and family. When I was pregnant I had to stop working (I was a make-up and hair artist) and the sitting around drove me insane. I started baking cupcakes to keep myself busy and soon I started getting orders to make ‘couture’ cupcakes.  Being fresh out of the glitz and glamour of working on shoots and fashion shows, I embraced this and poured my creativity into decorating and designing simple yet beautiful cupcakes. The…

There are days where writing a long blog post is just not necessary. Today is one of those days. This chocolate pudding is simple, delicious and satisfying and that’s all you need to know about it. It will warm every little part of you and you’ll be feeling a lot better about winter after a big serving with whipped cream! You’re welcome! Serves 6-8 2 cups flour 2 tsp baking powder 3/4 cup cocoa powder 2 cups caster sugar 4 eggs 2 cups milk 2 tbsp strong instant coffee (I warm the milk and then dissolve the coffee in it) 4 tbsp (about 100g (3.53 ounces)) butter 100g (3.53 ounces)…
